After Hurricane Ike visited the Gulf Coast, the need for a better trained group of dealers became obvious. Every manufacturer of home standby generators experienced failures with their residential product line. The largest problem was created by the individual dealer not reading the instruction manual on installation of these units and a plumber arguing with that dealer over the amount of fuel needed for the generators to properly function. Another large issue was the end user NOT reading the owners manual. Kohler provided the absolute in customer service during these trying times.

If a residential customer had a Kohler generator that had the motor seize because of lack of proper maintenance or the owner failing to check the oil, Kohler replaced the engine at Kohler's cost!!! The owner of the unit was responsible to get the generator to and from Loftin Equipment, the Master Distributor in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and the owner of Bay Electric in California.

Kohler did not stop there, Kohler has created a true dealer network that is trained by Kohler to control the quality of the installations. There are only 5 in South Texas! This protects the end user and has requirements that dealers have to meet before being allowed to sell the Kohler products.
